Yesterday afternoon, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Federal Trade Commission (FTC) issued a press release advising that they sent Warning Letters to several sellers of over-the-counter weight loss supplements containing Human Chorionic Gonadotropin, commonly referred to as “HCG.” The letters warn those companies that they are violating federal law by selling drugs that have not been approved by the FDA.
The recent developments make it clear that the FDA classifies HCG in any form or composition, as a drug. And as a consequence, the marketing and sale of over-the-counter products containing HCG is, per se, against the law.
Therefore, Clickbooth has decided to permanently ban the marketing of products containing HGC on its network. Clickbooth’s Compliance Team has repeatedly been leaps and bounds ahead of other networks and this ban is in line with our business practices and corporate mission. In the interest of consumer safety, we expect the rest of the industry to follow our lead. For more information, visit http://www.fda.gov/NewsEvents/Newsroom/PressAnnouncements/ucm282334.htm
